A Note on Sustainability, The HoA Philosophy
When we talk about sustainability, there are three pathways that matter.
First, and the most sustainable of all, is choosing not to buy and not to produce.
Second, choosing preloved pieces made from natural fibres: wool, cotton, silk, linen.
Third, investing intentionally in new, ethically made garments crafted from these same natural materials.
From my perspective, the real power lies in having a clear value system that allows you to blend all three.
A wardrobe becomes truly sustainable when it reflects your style, respects your comfort, and supports the environments you move through.
It’s not about perfection, it’s about building a capsule that feels like you, honours the planet, and gives you the freedom of choice without excess.
Our manufacturer on the following topics:
SUSTAINABILITY
“Designed with Sustainability in Mind” we subscribe to a mindful quality over a mass quantity ethos.
By limiting our production runs and adhering to thoughtful fabric recycling practices, committed to following a conscious path towards an environmentally positive future.
Silk itself is a highly renewable resource with a much smaller impact on the environment than many other fabrics it breaks down readily as compost, unlike petroleum-based fabrics, which can take up to 500 years to decompose.
SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT
For us it is absolutely essential that our products are produced in the safest way possible.
Our products are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified and have been tested and guaranteed to be free of all harmful substances, including toxins and irritants, ensuring that the silk products that you bring into your home are safe, natural and healthy.
We partner with ethically responsible silk farms and focus on made to order production runs to avoid excess manufacturing.
SOLAR ENERGY
In an effort to move towards a green source of energy we are currently upgrading our energy systems.
We are in the process of finalising a first phase solar panel installation that will provide our factory with a new source of clean non-polluting energy. Due to it’s zero-emissions process we are committed to the investment of solar energy as a long term sustainable energy source essential to the preservation of the environment.
RECYCLING
We utilize a water recycling and treatment system in order to uphold our commitment to cleaner production practices and minimising impact on the environment.
We make a concentrated effort to utilise recycled materials for packaging and continue to explore new alternative eco friendly developments for all touch points of the company.
In an effort to minimise waste, we utilise every bit of silk that we produce.
We recycle all scrap and leftover fabrics that are then re-purposed into a recycled filling for our eye masks as well as other home lifestyle products.
